On April 14th, State Sen. Ann Gillespie resigned her Senate seat to become the Acting Director of the Illinois Dept. of Insurance. Following Sen. Gillespie’s appointment to the position by Gov. Pritzker on April 15th and the subsequent vacancy of the 27th Senate District, the local Democratic Committeepeople making the replacement for the District are providing the following details for the appointment process:
Those who would like to apply for appointment to the 27th State Senate District should send a cover letter and resume to ILSenateDistrict27Opening@gmail.com by 10 PM on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
To be eligible for appointment, one must be a United States citizen, at least 21 years old, and have been a resident of the 27th District for at least two years prior to appointment. The appointment will be conducted by the Committeepeople on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 6 PM at 14 W. Miner St., Arlington Heights, IL 60004. To RSVP to attend the meeting in person or virtually via Zoom, please email wheelingdemocrats@gmail.com. The meeting will also be live streamed for the public on the Wheeling Township Democrats Facebook page to provide more accessibility.
The Democratic Committeepeople comprising the 27th District and deciding the replacement are Wheeling Township Democratic Committeeperson Mark Walker, Elk Grove Township Democratic Committeeperson Ted Mason, Palatine Township Democratic Committeeperson Maria Galo, Maine Township Democratic Committeeperson Laura Murphy, and Schaumburg Township Democratic Committeeperson Mike Cudzik.
